Question about local winery

I am just getting in to wines and was curious if anyone knew anything about the Williamsburg Winery. I ran across them today. I picked up their Plantation Blush (mainly because in the past I have liked blush wines the best). How does theirs rate, and what would one serve a blush wine with?

I have done several tastings of Williamsburg Winery wines over the past years and don't like the style. I found most of their wines to be tart and simple. I haven't tried the 2000 line up though so please post your notes on the wine when you pop it.

I'm not familiar with Williamsburg Winery but someone else may answer that question. It may be mentioned somewhere on the East Coast Wines thread. You could try a search with Williamsburg Winery.
As to food pairings with blush wines, I like a simply prepared shrimp dish (no hot sauce) or possibly grilled chicken. I also served a Maui blush wine (as a novelty that most people may not have encountered) at a wine tasting with a variety of appetizers such as cheese and crackers, sauteed mushrooms, and crab-filled mushrooms. The Maui blush wine was favorably received.

I'm here on the side lines. Drew provided the best possible information. The Williamsburg Winery is about an hour's drive from my home in Virginia Beach and I've never been there.......... although I've been to Williamsburg a number of times.

Because I find their wines do not go well with my palate, generally speaking, I've had not great interest in visiting and touring the winery. They make one red that I've sampled a few times and am willing to drink when nearly nothing else is available. This is their Two Shilling Red and it is a light to medium bodied red blend that is vinified in stainless steel - no oak!

Since I am no great fan of their wines, I've felt in times past that visiting their winery could be a bit of a waste. But I may change my mind one of these days and just visit and take the tour. I may not like most of their wines, but thy are a working winery and the tour could be interesting............

Once a year in Ocean City Maryland, the town sponsors a wine tasting event highlighting approx. 30-40 "Local" wineries. Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, N. Carolina and maybe a few others participate. It's a fun time and some of the wines are very good. $25 per person + free entertainment = I'm glad the Municipality has public transportation. Mr. D, IK, Foodie and anyone interested....I'll post the 2002 date, if it's on again this year, when I learn of it and any and all are invited to stay at my place at the ocean.
