I'm writing up wine lots for a silent auction. The word Amerone came up. I'm assuming this is a type of grape. Am I right?

Amarone is a wine made from a certain type of grape grown in Valpolicella which is then dried on bamboo racks. You could find more info by simply buying a bottle of any Veneto Amarone and reading the back of the bottle.
Oh, and you might enjoy drinking it, too.
