I am having my boyfriend over to eat dinner with my family for the first time, and I am cooking. I'm making strip steaks and can't decide between just grilling it or serving it with an herby red wine sauce. I also have seasones red potatoes and some kind of vegetable planned too. For desert I'll just have strawberries and such with different desert sauces.
So, basically my question is, what type of wine should go well with these, and what brands as well, since I know practically nothing about wine. Please?

Hi Ipetsch, and welcome to the Wine Board. Since we don't know either your price points or your location, let us recommend good value wines that should be widely available. For the main course, recommend Columbia Crest, Grande Estates, Cabernet Sauvignon for around $10. For dessert Bonny Doon Muscat Vin de Glaciere for around $15 for 375 ml. Hope you have a wonderful event.
