California wines

Hello.

I recently moved to California and want to try wines. I don't have access to liqour/wine shops as such but would consider that if needed. I'm interested to know any good wines that I can get at local places like albertsons, ralphs or pharmacies like riteaid etc. I would like to have the sweetest wine possible.

Hi Doc and welcome to the Wine Board. Try both the reds and whites from Sutter Home. If you eventually find them too sweet, come back for more advice.

If you live in Irvine, you have as much access to wine shops as you do to Albertson and Ralphs. Try Bacchus Secret Cellar for starters.

If there are sweeter CA wines than Sutter Home, I don't know about them. Ask at the places KC recommended. Good luck.

It doesn't matter where you are all supermarkets & drug stores will have Riesling wines.

They are not going to be made in California because the grape likes cooler weather, but you should be able to find some from Germany or Washington.

You should like those.

Sweet reds are really hard to find.
