Thank you to all who helped me with suggestions on my first anniversary red wine post a week or two ago for dining out at Ruth's Chris. I took Innkeeper's suggestion and ordered an Aussie cabernet sauvignon. We ordered a bottle of Penfold's Bin 407 Cabernet (about $60 on their menu). On the menu it said 1998, but our server brought it to us and pointed out that it was 2000, and I guess the 1998 was an error on the menu. Anyway - the wine was FABULOUS! My husband and I really enjoyed it and this was the best wine we have tasted to date. It went excellent with everything we ordered -

Stuffed mushrooms with crabmeat
House salad with blue cheese
Filet, medium rare
Broiled tomato
Au Gratin potatoes.

Thanks again Innkeeper! This board has really made me forget about my first few experiences with bad wine. It's nice to know that good wines do exist, and I'm glad I've given wine another shot.

Hey, Tiny Ham! I'm up in O'side! I have heard such great things about Ruth Chris! I saw it off the freeway the other day while driving back from S.D. I would love to go there, but I think I'd need to see a menu there first. My DH is bound to come home soon (from the war - how much longer can they keep him there?!), and I would love to celebrate with a fantastic dinner... but I'm a bit afraid of the price.

Any recommendations? :-)

-Elizabeth
