My hubby thought he was being cute, he didn't like the bottle of Fetzer white zin (2001) we opened to try out (same as the Gewurt). My hubby was on the couch with his glass and our Manchester Terrier was beside him, so what does he do, puts some on his finger and she liked it.
My son put some in a bowl, and she was licking it, and then the other Manchester also decided to try it out, he wasn't as happy with it though.

Well, we will try some Riesling next, see if that is less "alcoholic" tasting. We just need to slowly adjust to the wines. This bottle was only 10.5% It didn't leave as bad an aftertaste, and my hubby says it has a cranberry, woody taste, but he still doesn't like the alcohol aftertaste.
(The dogs won't get to taste anymore though)

Didn't realize that Fetzer "oaked" their white zin. You will not find that in the riesling (hopefully) or taste the
"alcohol." It will most probably be sweet though. It is better to pour something you don't like down the drain, that to give it to the dog. What we do, even though KC says not to cook with what you don't like, is put it in recipes that have enough strong flavors, that it doesn't matter.

Don't worry, she won't get any more (the dog). He just wanted to see what she would do. It surprized us both that she would actually drink it.

I don't know if the wine was oaked, hubby just felt it had a woody taste/smell.

I have the wine in the fridge, with the cork in it. There is a recipe in one of my cookbooks that calls for white wine, I think it will get used for that.
