I like the Texas Llano Estacato Johannisberg Riesling, but it is not available in my part of the country. I would like a comparable wine that is more widely available

Hi Arlie, and welcome to the Wine Board. Don't know why you can't get your Llano in your part of the country. I know Texas has some strange laws, but since you live in Texas you should be able to get it. According to their webstite if you can't find it in your neck of the woods, you should call them at: 806-745-2258.

They say their production is limited and that they are using California and Washington grapes in what they do produce. You might try some other California or Washington Rieslings such as Greenwood Ridge (CA) or Hogue (WA).

I have been in contact with the winery and the closest outlet is the Texas Wines store in the stockyards of Ft Worth. That is about 85 miles from me.

The laws changed in September. No Texas Winery can ship to an individual in Texas..no matter whether you live in a wet area or not.

I appreciate the info on the Ca or Wa wines. I will look for them in my local store.
