I find I know almost nothing about Merlots
I want to buy a case of a nice lower priced Merlot, but not sure where to begin.
A neighbor offered "Vichon Mediterranean" as a good cheap one. Anyone know of it ? Or can anyone make a counter suggestion?
They also suggested the Geyser Peak as a nicer addition
Thanks
SJ

Both good choices. Recently touted the Vichon here ourselves. Also look for Blackstone.

Good advice from Innkeeper. If you'll look under the Wine Specific Forums, you'll see one for Merlot; open that, and pull down the postings for the last 100 days. You'll find discussions of several good Merlots there.

Just a thought, but why not get a "mixed" case, with several different brands (or 12 different brands for that matter). That way you get to try many, and possibly find several that you like for future case purchasing. Experimenting=Learning

Wise suggestion by Catch22. My neighbor and I used to do exactly that -- get a mixed case of 12 -- try them all, them buy our favorites by the case. Cheaper to do it with a friend (I'm talking wine here!)

My wife and I have enjoyed the 98' Concha y Toro "Casillero del Diablo" from Chile. Very dark and plush...a good value for under $10.
