Okay, all this talk about Champagne and sparkling wine have made me wonder...

Does France produce any other sparkling wines besides Champagne? I would assume "yes", because otherwise I can't imagine the Treaty of Versailles and such would really be such a big deal to those of us outside of France.

Just curious!

Thanks! I figured they must!!! I'll have to check them out!

Aaah... I miss French cider (beer). X-Cidre. That was my favorite. Could buy it at the grocery store! Loved it! (This was before I knew about wine.)

Limoux claims to have been producing sparklers before Champagne. Try Blanchette de Limoux.
There is also sparkling Vouvray.

French sparklers other than Champagne are usually identified by the word "mousseaux" (sp).
