BEFORE I SHOP FOR MY NEXT BOTTLE, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN, MERLOT, CABERNET, CHARDONNAY, CHABLIS, SHIRAZ, ETC...
I AM BUYING WINE BLINDLY, HOPING I LIKE IT. I KNOW I DO LIKE SWEET WINES, AND DO NOT LIKE BITTER WINES. THANKS

HI Linette and welcome to the Wine Board. Chablis (the real stuff from Northern Burgundy in France) is made from the Chardonnay. All wines made from Chardonnay are white wines. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz/Syrah are red grapes that make red wine. Shiraz and Syrah are the same grapes called differently in different regions.

Methinks you need a good book. An easy afternoon or evening read is "101 Essential Tips: Wine" by Tom Stevenson is available from the shop on this site.
