My husband visited a vineyard in California a few years ago--I don't know how to spell it but it sounds like Camus--and raves about the wine he bought there. I would like to surprise him with a bottle from the same maker for an upcoming birthday, but can't find the Camus brand anywhere locally and can't find a Web site for the vineyard (maybe because I have the name spelled wrong). Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Hi Sharon,

You're looking for Caymus, I believe. I took the liberty of copying some info for you from www.winetoday.com. There's more there about Caymus, so check it out.

<snip>
The basics
Region: Napa Valley
Appellation: Rutherford
Owner: Charles J. Wagner family
Founded: 1972
Cases: 54,000/yr.
Winemaker: Chuck Wagner, since 1972; Jon Bolta, since 1982
Distribution: National

The Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is upwards of $100 a bottle, but collectors don't seem to be complaining. The Special Selection has national stature, arguably the most highly regarded American wine. The Wagner family began as farmers in 1906, and Charlie Wagner began making wine in 1972. The modest, low-frills winery is named after the Caymus Indians.

Wines produced
Cabernet Sauvignon, Rose, Sauvignon Blanc, White Blend, White proprietary blend

<snip>

Hope that helps!!

Don
