Any book recommendations?

I'm beginning to learn about wine and have read a few books, but would like your expert recommendations!

"Great Tastes Made Simple." by Andrea Immers

"Wine for Dummies" As any other ...For Dummies book, this one is very good.

Kevin Zraly's "Complete Wine Course--Windows on the World."

Karen MacNeil's "Wine Bible"

Interesting book on the wine world Laurence Osborne's "The Accidental Connoisseur" and Jay McInerney's "Bacchus & Me"

Concur with JV's recommendations. I recommend not only Immer's "Great Wine Made Simple", but everything she has written; including her yearly "Wine Buying Guide for Everyone." Her handle is now Immer-Robinson. Some lucky guy named Robinson is now part of her household.

Another lady of (wine) note, is Janis Robinson. You should at least have her paperback "Concise Wine Companion." I refer to it more than anything else when answering people's questions.

Other "Dummy" books by the same authors (Mulligan & McCarthy) include "Italian Wine for Dummies" and "French Wine for Dummies." Both of these are excellent with pronounciation help with wines, regions, and producers. I have almost worn out the "Italian" one.

I agree on everything noted above. Only one to add right now and that is more of an interest book.

The Wines of Northern Rhone by John Livingstone-Learmonth.

And one off topic...a cheese book.

Cheese Primer by Steven Jenkins...kind of the wine bible lite of cheese.

I think everyone should have a "cheese bible" on hand. Mine is "A Salute to Cheese" by Betty Wason (circa 1966). I keep it with my wine books, and it never ceases to amaze me that every trendy cheese that come along is still listed in that book.

I have "Wine and Cheese box" Don't know the author (I'm not at home). Give you a cross reference of wine and cheese pairing.

A good way to learn about wine also are wine magazines like Wine Spectator.
