As many of you know, I'm a recent convert to the cult of Bacchus. I've been drinking wine for years--started with Glen Ellen Zinfandel, then moved to Spanish Reds for a while, and lately I've really been starting to put things in better perspective by trying and comparing wines of all sorts.

My question here is, What would be a good wine for me to try on my mother? She's been drinking flavorless jug wine for years, and I'd like to get her some higher quality wines that are similar to, but more interesting than, the Cassata Rosé she likes to drink. Should she go the Glen Ellen route? Or is there a better "starter" wine to go with?

Thanks for any answers, and thanks for such a great board!

For just a little more money, you can get her a lot more wine. For example Roberto sells one called 2000 Illuminati Cerasuolo Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Camprirosa, for $10.99. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Cerasuolo is the most you will ever find in a rose', but also a smooth, lovely wine that goes with almost anything. You can find them in any store with a decent selection of Italian Wine. The same producers will offer a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Rossa which is a very nice red, but the Cerasuolo is the rose'.
