Everyone agrees on the hard c for chianti but what about bruschetta?? When I pronounce the hard c (Brew-sketta) I am corrected - by companions and serving staff alike. Am I off-course on this??

"ch" is always pronounced as a "k" sound, so you're correct Susie. Your companions and serving staff are completely incorrect, and you can tell them so with impunity.

KC is "chorrect."

In Italian, ch is pronounced as an English k, a letter that is not in the Italian alphabet.

Ci and ce are pronounced as the English phonetic tchee and tchay: ciao--tcheeow=hello, goodbye, wassup; cena--tchaynah=dinner.

And while we are at it, they are not bisc"ah"tti but bisc"oh"tti that one dips into Vino Santo. The letter o in Italian is not pronounced like a short a but like an o.
