About 7 years ago I received a bottle of (Cava) Codorniu Blanc de Blanc, 25.4 ozs. It came in a box with two champagne glasses with gold rims, writing "codorniu" and an emblem. On the outside of the box it says, "Imported by: Joseph Victori Wines, Inc., Brooklyn, NY." The bottle says, "Fermented in this bottle BRUT product of Spain." -- San Sadurni De Noya, Spain. The bottle is a very odd tall shape and extremely heavy dark green glass. The bottom caves in and has outprinted markings of 75cl, 00, MR. Behind the top label is 731081. I have wanted to open it soooo many times, but have no info on it. I was told it was very old. If anyone can give me some info, I would be very grateful! Thanks!

Welcome Kim, what you have is a promotional offering that you often see around the holidays, (bottle and glasses). Your bottle is a sweet on the palate sparkling Spanish wine which some would refer to as a Spanish "Champagne". Codorniu is a producer of average to good Cava in the drink now style with no value in terms of aging or collectability. Pop it and enjoy soon.

Drew,

Would it be sweet? It says "BRUT product of Spain." Brut should mean its dry. Unless Brut means something else there, or they are just sticking the term on the label.

Kim, Welcome to the Board!

Barnesy, I'm just trying to describe this wine for Kim. Yes you're right but the Cava sparklers that I've had, including this one, seem to have a sweeter profile than their French or American cousins.
