Chenin Blanc and Vouvray? Isn't Vouvray made from the same grape?

Yes, but ..... Chenin Blanc is the grape and that's how it's labelled on the bottle in most places. Vouvray is a place where the Chenin Blanc grape is grown in France. It's a village on the Loire River and the name of the region where the wine is made. The same thing happens elsewhere - red Rioja wine is from Rioja in Spain and made from the Tempranillo grape, Chianti is made from Sangiovese (mainly), etc., etc.

A lot of the time a specific place gives a grape certain characteristics that it is unlikely to achieve elsewhere, which is one reason many wines are named after the place they come from rather than their grape.

For instance, Vouvray tends to have a lot more of a minerally and sometimes honeyed character than much Chenin from elsewhere.
