i see this on labels but can never find its meaning in books and what not. anyone be able to tell this novice the answer? Thanks!

Literally, it means the "grand wine" or the "big wine". I read it as indicating the primary product of the winery and that it's in full compliance with the rules of the region.

It means nothing of consequence. Grand vins= fine wine. The real information is found elsewhere on the label.

Grand Vin is the other end of the scale from Vin Ordinaire. At least that's what they told me when I was working there.

KC, that's about the size of it. I don't believe it is part of the AOC regs--can say it, but it doesn't follow any specified winemaking...I could be wrong
