Help with finding a specific year?

I'm a complete novice with wine---don't know the first thing about it. But I'm looking for a gift for a wine lover, and I wanted to get something really really good from 1978 (sentimental year). The person I'm giving to loves chiantis, but I don't even know if a chianti that old is good or not. Does anyone have suggestions for a specific wine I could get from this year?

Ahh, time to get out the vintage chart.
For the year 1978 Chianti was rated very good. The problem is this was prior to italy becoming chic and widely collected so finding one maybe a challenge. Some other highlights from the chart for great '78's -
All Rhone wines and Barolo.
