Hi -- My family just moved to Germany, in the Mosel River area. My husband and I would like to learn more about German wines. Can anyone recommend a good Wine Guide to learn the basics, and a couple German wines that we should familiarize ourselves with? Thanks for any advice you may offer!

Hi Rosieroon, and welcome to the Wine Board. The best way to learn about wine is to taste it. Some folks are more fortunate than others in that they live in the middle of a wine region, and can taste lots of wines at one time, rather than having to buy bottle after bottle and laboriously keep notes.

You are one of those lucky people. Drive directly to the nearest river town. Drive slowly along the main drag until you see a house with several wine bottles in the window. Knock on the door, and you will have found your new home away from home.
