Calistoga Winery Visit

Hi All, leaving for California in a couple weeks and am visiting friends in Calistoga. This isn't my first trip to the area-I've been to a number of wineries up there (cakebread, sterling, BV, v.sattui, robert sinskey- to name a few). I was hoping for some MUST DO wineries for this trip. Marryvale is one on the list. Thanks!

One thing you might want to check out is a tasting room in the town of Napa called the Vintner's Collective. It's in a historic building and has tasting for a number of small wineries--some very good stuff last time I visited. They have a website at vintnerscollective.com so you might want to check that out.

Actually there's another collective tasting room in Napa too--just can't lay hands on the proper card at the moment but maybe I'll find it before you go.

Hello-I returned from CA last week and had a great time in St. Helena and Calistoga. I went to 10 wineries: Merryvale, Whitehall Lane, Freemark Abbey, St. Supery, Markham to name a few bigger ones. I highly reccommend a couple of the smaller wineries which only offer their wines at the winery itself. Folie a Deux and Casa Nuestra. They do offer interstate shipping. Both places were charming and friendly and their wines are some of the best from the valley.

I hope you'll report further on your tastings. I like St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc and have seen praise for their Syrah. Markham produces a very nice Cabernet Sauvignon.
