I was hoping someone might have some good information about Canadian wines. My husband and I are going to Quebec City for our anniversary and definitely want to check out some local wine and vineyards. If anyone has any advice it would really help! Also, if anyone knows of a good online store to buy from, wine stores are very limited in "no where's ville" Maine!

The province of Quebec has some wineries but the best Canadian wines come from the Southern tip of Ontario (Niagara) and from the Okanagan Valley in BC. Quebec instead has some very interesting spirits that simply should not be missed. One that I remember most is the maple syrup/Canadian Whisky combo. They serve this in the streets in the winter at food stalls....only in Quebec! They also have blueberry and other similar combo. They are bottled in Icewine style bottles and are typically about $20CDN a piece.

For Canadian wines, I would look for Icewines from Ontario as being the regional speciality. Reds do okay (some are very good such as the Chateau des Charmes Equulus) but Whites are nicer such as Rieslings due to the cooler climate.
