I need to know how to prepare that German hot wine. I think they call it glock or something like it.

It's called gluwein, and is a hot mulled red wine drink steeped with various spices. Some gourmet shops carry the spices in pre-formed sticks that you merely add to the wine while it is being heated. I kept some of the sticks in the pantry for a few years after we returned from Germany, before finally tossing them. Gluwein can be made with virtually any red wine, but the one used in Germany isn't really fit for anything else IMHO. If I were to make it today I'd probably use a Beaujolais, although a Rioja or Rhone would work just fine.

It might also be one of the few reasonable uses for most mass-market Calif. Cab
