Can anyone help me find a cheaper wine similar to this one?

I recently tried a German red wine I absolutely loved. I believe it was called Pflaz. I have no clue how to describe wines properly but would love to find something similar to the taste of the one I mentioned in a cheaper price range. Perhaps, someone knows of just a cheaper place to purchase the Pflaz.

The Pfalz is the largest wine producing region in Germany and as such grow different types of red grapes eg. Dornfelder, Portugiese, Regent, Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir), Schwarzriesling, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Dorsa and Merlot to name a few. If you still have the bottle please post additional info so we can identify the grape...Welcome to the board by the way.

Thanks Drew for explaining things a little to me. I know the bottle said Dornfelder. Sorry I failed to mention that before. I didn't understand that that was the type of grape.

The most reasonable one produced in the U.S.A. that I could find was from Stargazers Vineyard, 1024 Wheatland Dr., Coatesville, PA 19320. Phone (610) 486-0422. Their's cost $10.

Dornfelder is/was a blending grape to bolster the color and body of German Pinot Noir. On it's own it's very black/blue/purple in the glass, often opaque and reminds me somewhat of petite sirah but is slightly more tart in flavor. Serve it with roasted meats, fatty steaks and hearty meat fare. Sometimes I see it in this area but it's a little to tannic for my taste. I probably should age one for a few years to see what develops.
