Hi there. I'm new to wines and would like to start a small collection of wines from various countries that are moderately priced. I'd like some wines that I can keep for a few years (2-5)before I enjoy them. I'm interested in wines from Australia, Chile, USA (California), Canada, Italy....... red and white. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi again BVrush. If you go back 100 days on the various threads that deal with your interests, you should be able to identify the wines that are in your catagory. This board is laid out so concisely that you can check wines from Chile, France, Italy, etc. Have fun WW

There is one little word in your request about aging wine, "white", that is problematic. White wines that age are so few and far apart, and also so expensive that I highly recommend you just concentrate on the reds. The biggest problem I have with white wines is drinking them soon enough. This is particularly true when you start buying by the case.

You will find when perusing the Board that there are some wines you have to age. This includes most American Petite Sirah; Italian Barolo, Barbaresco, and Brunello; and most Australian reds that cost more tha $15 U.S. Haven't mentioned Chile, because I have never laid down a wine from there. There may be some you can find around the Board.

Sorry, but I misposted this morning. Do have a Chilian in the aging rack. It is the 1999 Baron Philippe De Rothschild, Escudo Rojo, Maipo, Chile. This is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, carmenere (similar to merlot) and cabernet franc; making it a Bordeauxlike blend. It needs at least a couple more years in the rack. Haven't tried it yet, but is highly recommended by the Weener (WW). Don't know if it is available up your way, but according to reports, is worth looking for.

Hello Innkeeper,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a look for that wine from Chile, it sounds good!
