Hello everyone! Im new to this board and had a question about cabs.

It seems as though i can not get away from the Jordan and Cakebread cabs. Does anyone know of any cabs that have similar body and finish as the Jordan and Cakebread, but for a little cheaper?

Thanks

Dear Sir,

Hmmmmmmmmmm, that's kind of a tough one. Once you start drinking Cakebread and Jordan on a regular basis, other wines may just not be up to par.

But there are some other quality wines that you may get used to and actually enjoy.

Some of my favorites in the medium price range are:

White Hall Lane Napa 2002
Raymond "Generations" Napa 2001
Concho y Toro "Don Melchor" Chile 2001

But if you need to spend even less money and still have a good wine (may require time to breathe or decantering)you may want to try these:

Concho y Toro"Casillero del Diablo" Chile 2003 or 2004
Markhams Napa 2001 to 2003
Murphy-Goode Sonoma 2001-2002

Good Luck, Good Drinking and Cheers

Justin Cellars single vineyard "isoceles" (how the hell do ya spell that?) is very good, but prices similar to cakebread.

However their regular cab is very good and is only around $24... it's pretty darn approachable, but a lot more intriguing than many cheaper ones.
If you want to go cheaper still I really like Casa Silva reserva Cab($10ish)
and Pascual Y Toso Cab ($9ish) if you can find them. Both South American.
Liberty School is really good, but lighter bodied than what you seem to be looking for.
you might just have to accept that you're spoiled

Hi Si and welcome to the board. You've started out on a little higher scale than most wine drinkers. The Jordan is a well-made easy-to-drink style with some depth. i suggest you mite try the Estancia. As for the more fuller bodied, extracted, and complex Cakebread You could take a look at Flora Springs Napa and Trilogy or theWhitehall Lane or the Robert Craig (any of his 3 releases). Go to the Cabernet thread, go back a year, and you mite find something to fit your pistol. WW
