Hi,
I'm having some people over for dessert, which will consist of the following choices:

1. Indian rice pudding
2. ice cream (vanilla)
3. cake (chocolate or vanilla, not sure yet)
4. fruit, cheese, chocolate dish

What are some good white wines and/or dessert wines that might complement this selection of food? I live in N.California.

Thank you for your help!

Hi Dyuti, and welcome to the Wine Board. If you are going to go white with this project, omit the chocolate. Any late harvest CA white will do: Riesling, muscat, chenin blanc, even sauvignon blanc. Look for Bonny Doon Muscat de Glacieres. It is sort of a poor man's ice wine. He freezes the grapes before pressing them. Great effect. Even at $18 for 375 ml it is a geat value for this type of wine.

Another option for the ice cream and pudding choice would be Benjamin's or 'Penfold's Reserve' Tawny Port. Yummy stuff.
