for newbies from a newbie-read archieves

I am not trying to step on anyone's toes, but I do have a suggestion for all of us newbies. We need to read the archieves, type in the search a topic, such as white wines, and you will find LOTs of information on a variety of things.
I was reading past posts, and found lots of answers to questions I had, and a lot of interesting information here.

Thats not to say we can't post questions here, it is still fun to talk with the "experts" (not counting WW in that category, [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/biggrin.gif[/img]) but it is a wealth of info, in my opinion.

What you say is not only sage advice, but what one should do before anything else. I've been a lurker here for some months now, and I've noticed a couple of things:

1) browse posts back one year and there's, as you say, a wealth of info, especially on topics which one might be looking for information;

2) not just on this board, but on many others which I participate, people oft ask a question that has been answered previously, and a small search on the board or on Google would reveal all the person wanted answered and more besides. Indeed, I haven't bothered to register until now because I find answers to my questions by just reading existing posts!

I would echo what many have said before that forum has been more than an excellent resource. The experience shared here, as well as the comraderie, all make this a place that makes me want to come in and share a glass. [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/smile.gif[/img]

Thanks for the nice words, Menua, and welcome in from the cold.

You've both hit on a subject that's frequently overlooked by new-guys on the board: many questions have already been answered many times, and search engines are very powerful tools for research. They require a bit more effort than simply posting a question and waiting for a response.... but not much. Having said that....don't be shy about asking questions.
