Hi Karen, and welcome to the Wine Board. Don't know about the very best, buy one of our respected members recently recommended Eugen Muller Scheurebe Eiswein.

You won't go wrong with a Donnhoff Eiswein such as Oberhauser Brucke but expect to pay top prices. Less expensive (but far from cheap) and quite nice are the Eisweins from Lorenzhofer Karlsmuhle ($67-$110 a half bottle on www.wine-searcher.com). Donnhoff wines are from the Nahe River vineyards and Karlsmuhle is from the Ruwer tributary of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wine district. They present different styles but both have their loyal fans.

Hi Karen,

Don't forget to give Canadian Icewines a fair try... they're definitely giving German trockenbeernauslese a run for the money!

Cheers
