Has anyone tried Robert Mondavi's Woodbridge 1988? I am entirely clueless about Mondavi wines aside from those lovely $10 Coastal Cabernets that have gotten me and my friends through many a desperate wine-drinking binge! Can anyone advise on a price, quality, etc?

The Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are just about the ideal (hope Winecollector doesn't see this) wines to serve when you are hosting upwards of 100 people. Went to an affair earlier this month when this was done, and compared to what you normally find at such things, the Woodbridge was delightful.

Do you you have any idea of a price for this wine (1988)?--The Wine Spectator wine index offered no help on this one.
I didn't purchase it; rather, it was a gift from a friend whom I asked to not go "overboard" in buying a birthday gift pour moi. I'm concerned that she might have gone a little over the top on this one, and would like to compensate her.

Hello... new here.

We (wife and I) served Mondavi Woodbridge Chardonnay and Cab at our wedding.

I like Mondavi Woodbridge 'cause it is really inexpensive for something without a screw-top, and ya don't have to brown-bag it at the yacht club.

Seriously, you can pick up the newer Chards, Zins, and Cabs for less than $6 at most Southern Cali markets... and that is a great deal!

They're around $7 around here. Probably were around $5 back in '88. Though the wine is probably still fine, doubt if it has appreciated much in value.

Pergamum and Ik, Per are you sure about the 88? Heck Fire the 88 Diamond Creeks are over the hill and I don`t remember the year Mondavi started marketing Woodbridge. Can state with relative certainty that no-ones 2nd lable would last from a poor vintage. The Mondavi " Reserve" `aint bery good from the 88 vintage, and he used his primo grapes in thaT bugger. Definately an '88. I know 88 ain't that great of a vintage for Mondavi and it isn't much better for the rest of the "more affordable" Cabernets in Cali. Do you all think that I've got a bottle of vinegar on my hands? The bottle might make a lovely center piece!
