Never a drinker of alcohol in the past I am totally lost on wine/champagne. Could someone please advise a few starters. I am not wild about really dry champage. A friend suggested yellow tail which is inexpensive and fruity. Frankly, I am clueless.

Hi Douglas, and welcome to the Wine Board. Bubbly nomenclature is a little dizzying for newcomers. Will just go over the first two to keep it simple (don't try to figure out the logic). Brut means bone dry. Extra Dry means off dry. So, look for an Extra Dry, either in a Champagne, Spanish Cava, or California Sparkler. They all use the same terms. If Extra Dry is still too dry for you, we can talk about Demi Sec and Sec.

Asti Supmante is a bubbler that is sweet to my taste as well. The Martini and Rossi one was. About 11 bucks, you can even find it at wal-mart and it isn't too shabby.
