This is my first time here, so plese bare with me. My wife and I are trying to get started into the taste for wines.

I know that this "Q" probably has been asked a thousand times.

But, could someone please tell me, when and what wines are use for, what and when.

Red wine, White wine, Burgundy, etc..?

Types of wines served with ham, steak, fish, etc...?

Also, I have heard that there is a white wine, German Label, that is very sweet.

Thanks

I forgot to mention that, most of the wines I have tasted are of the California vintage.

I have noted Red, or White wine has a bitter/sour taste.

Welcome Sir Kaaaaanighit (Monty Pythonise). The answer to your question is complex but once you pair a perfect match, the experience is wonderful. Two wine/food matching sites I visit are:

Robin Garr: http://www.wine-lovers-page.com/foodwine

and

Wine Spectator: http://www.winespectator.com/Wine/Dining/FoodWine_Matching_Search/1,1205,,00.html

These will give you basic food/matching ideas but the bottom line is drink the wines that YOU enjoy with your favorite foods.

Thank you Drew for your response.

I will look up the two sites, and see what I can learn.

I hope I can find a wine that will tingle my buds.

Champagne or a good sparkling wine will tingle your buds!

Try the light slightly bubbly stuff from Italia - Prosecco.

Wonderful, slightly bubbly white wine. Even WW might admit to drinking it now and then.
