Ok, so I guess I have about 10 wines in my personal repertoire. (wow).

Yesterday I stopped to get another bottle of a particular wine from here in Texas that I tried and loved. As I was looking at a bottle of Reisling (because I've seen it recommended here), a guy mentioned that he and his wife really like this one. So, for the low price of just over 5 bucks, I bought it. OH...MY...GOSH! This one I LOVED!! It is Schmitt Sohne Reisling 2000 and says 'qualitaatswein b.a." under the vintage.

The label is a beautiful purple color with a smiling sun. The bottle a lovely blue.

Even though I am not yet well learned in TN's, I can say I totally loved this wine. I got a deep taste of fruit, and I really can only describe what I experienced as the taste of the grape peel on a really good firm biting grape. That taste of sweet, tart, and a slight hint of almost bitter (?) was there as the wine went down my throat.

I am totally buying more of that stuff!

Glad you discovered that Riesling, TK. We've been commenting on it for a couple of years. Do a search on the name to see earlier notes. It pairs well with most chicken dishes, roast turkey, ham and pork chops or roasts, and is widely available in the San Antonio area at Sun Harvest and HEB supermarkets, as well as Gabriel's liquor stores. The price is usually right around four bucks.
