I gave him Jackie's email address, but no answer yet. He cannot sign on to the forum in case anyone is wondering why no posts or replies.

Got to wonder who gave him the boot. WW, did you have anything to do with this? (Just kidding)

Let's talk about the blonde. No, let's not.

He's baaaacccckkkk! Dunno what the problem was, but I'll attribute it to Gates and his products. Thought it might be a dead intermediate server somewhere, but the site pinged just fine, and the path traced clear. Go figure.

Damn! I thought I picked up all of the Reese's Pieces -- he still found his way back ... curses.

Hello hotwine! This is Jackie.... I am logging in as you and not having a problem in posting this message. Sorry to impersonate you dearest, but this is the best test I could think of.

I see you are able to log on now, so all is fine. But I am stumped as to an explanation. I suppose it may be possible that the server was temporarily down. But you were able to ping the server so I am baffled.

I think it is Descartes' Ghost in the Machine.

Jackie

FYI- I couldn't even bring up the site for 2 days. This is the first time I haven't gotten an error message. I was trying both the direct link, and the front door through wines.com

Haven't had that problem, but mine is that my daughter, whose computer we've been using, deletes her cookies every few days. Therefore my cookies here get burnt, and I have to manually log in everytime. Sigh!
