Sorry for the irratic behavior of the wineboard today and yesterday. It turns out that the web server itself had a hard drive problem and was generating corrupt files.

This is the first time in over five years that we've had this kind of problem.

We've restored as much as possible, although I see a few cosmetic problems remain.

It looks like we've also lost about 20 user registrations... My apologies. They are not all new registrations either. So if your username and password suddenly don't work, it may be that you were one of the unfortunate 20. I'm so sorry.

A few posting have been lost as well. As far as I can see they included posting between last night at 10:25pm and about noon today. We've restored everything we can and apologize for any lost postings. Hope you will re-post if yours has disappeared.

Hopefully this will be the end of the ghost in the machine.

I'll be watching to see if other things are working OK. Please send an alert if you see glitches....

Thanks everyone,
Jackie

Jackie-

It looks like the posts give you the opportunity to e-mail the user. It's not on the older posts. I don't know about others, but I personally don't want this to be an option. Is there a way to fix this?

Should I turn this off for everybody?

It is also controllable on an individual basis in the PROFILE (see upper right link and the question "Keep your email address viewable to other users when you post notes?")

Please let me know your opinion... Can we take a quick poll?

TUrned off.

Turned on showing location and number of posts.

This will not show up on older posts until I do a complete run of old files, which will take hours. I will do it during the night, so it won't disrupt the board anymore than it's been disrupted already.

I like the subtle new colorful look, and have turned my email off in the profile.

On the subject of email: on another wine board, members can email one another through the board so that email addresses are accessible to members and screened through the board, while they are not open to all the spammers, scammers and downrights pests of the world.

Is that a possibility here Jackie?

It probably could work here, Foodie. I think they both use UBB as a base.

On the e-mail thing, having an option would be the best thing. Freedom of choice.

Oh and the color, I don't know about you all, but its kinda bright on my computer. Pretty color of purple.

The color is red/purple here as well but we have been harvesting (and it has been a great harvest season) for so long that everything is begining to pick up those hues

Is "Junior Member" a new thing? For some reason, I'm not recalling that term.

Thanks, Bucko...I read that one in the classroom while the student teacher was teaching and I laughed right out loud. So much for her lesson...

At the moment, sending email through the board doesn't seem to be an option. I am looking into an upgrade of the program, however, and the newer version may offer that feature. I'll check it out.
