where to buy california's red

I'll be visiting Manhattan NYC next month and I want to get hold on some Califonia's jewels. Can someone suggest what wine store I should call? I rather deal with wine shop that will handle my emailed wish list. Any Enegotiationable wine shops?

If you are looking for Cali trophy wines -- a pricey proposition anywhere -- I would try the upscale stores, like Morrell and Sherry Lehman and, perhaps, The Chelsea Wine Vault. If you are willing to travel a little bit, Zachys in Scarsdale would be another (perhaps the best) venue.

Garnet, my favorite store overall -- at least right now, Foodie -- has a modest selection of highly desirable boutique Cali Cabs, Merlots and Meritages, but it's not their strong suit.

Also, be sure to check the auction houses, like Christie's or Sotheby's to see if they have any events with Cali jewels going on while you are in town.
