Nice article about Finger Lakes wines on another site

wineloverspage.com has a nice article about Finger Lakes wines including a photo of the giant barrel at Glenora Wine Cellars and references to Glenora's sparkling wines, inn and restaurant and several wineries on Seneca Lake that were visited by our offline in May. Makes me want to visit Inn at Glenora Wine Cellars again and try some wines I may have missed.

I'm going back to Glenora in September. Can't wait! While taking the wine tour in Williamsburg we met a woman who was leaving this week to spend a week on Keuka. We had a nice chat. I have to admit that I was very jealous. I might have to look into a little rental up there.

I also read that fellow Peter's travelogue.

Though his writing is fine (aside from a few glaring errors about the region and even some people's names) he uses the word "sour" to describe (especially Riesling) finish. Rare indeed that a wine is sour, and when it is, it is dead.

What he means, I think, is acidic--tart. Next time you "converse" with him online, ask him to identify his term "sour."

ww, you want to taste sour--try milk that has gone bad, or better yet, eat some raw brewers yeast. I've done both and am lucky to be alive I suppose!

Sour is not the word to use inplace of either bitter or tart--not the same at all.
