Food and Wine in Oklahoma City

Maybe WW can help out. I have TDY in Oklahoma City next week. Any restaurant recommendations? Bellini (northern Italian) Cattlemen's Steakhouse and Coach House are possibilities. I don't know how their wine lists are or prices.

I was raised in Okrahoma City, but I haven't been back there since 1987. Cattlemen's used to be a nice place for steak and salad, but wine was in a tumbler, "Red or white honey?"

That sounds about right for the Great Plains. I grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. Another restaurant listed was for crab, including Cajun crab dishes, but I prefer Maryland (or the West Coast) for crab eating.

Sorry WOW but I exited Okla City in the early 50s' and at the time I thot Wimpys' Burger Joint was stupendous. Lucky 'nuff to git out...jes' barely smart 'nuff to stay out. WW

I've heard of the Cattlemen's all the way down here. If their beef is still true to form, that would be the place to go. They might even allow corkage, if you're willing to use a Dixie cup.....

I was asked, "White or blush, honey?" in a club dining room tonight. Mercy.

Doesn't sound like a place that would even have a winelist, but the steaks should be top-notch, with the stockyards for neighbors. Other restaurants are also listed on the accessokc.com Website.

Isn't Oklahoma one of those states where wine consumption is considered a sin, if not a major criminal endeavor?

Whooo. One of their recommended dishes is Lamb Fries. Thanks, but no thanks. Besides, what would be the wine paired with that?

I was an experimental little sh*t growing up. I had everything on their menu including lamb fries and mountain oysters. Tasty stuff. Ice tea only at that age, except when gramppa slipped me some beer. [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/biggrin.gif[/img]

Lamb fries? I've heard of Rocky Mtn Oysters, but never these--am I to assume that one of these is the appendage surrounded by the two oysters?
