Anybody been to the San Luis Obispo area lately? I plan to go to their harvest celebration in November.

Have any recommendations for restaurants? Favorite wineries? Details please!

Not sure about Paso yet. Still firming up my plans. Will keep you posted.

Last time I was in the area(Santa Ynez and Santa Maria mostly), I went up to see John Alban and discovered a small winery called Domaine Alfred that makes delicious Pinot Noir. Made me curious to go back and discover some more. This time I will have a wine dinner with Domaine Alfred at a restaurant in San Luis Obispo called The Park.

Anyhow, who could resist a website called slowine?

Well, it's not looking like I'll get to Paso on this trip, unless plans change.

Will fly into San Jose and to to Ridge. Sat with Paul Draper at a luncheon at their Lytton Springs facility in August. He'll be in Mexico, but I have an appointment with their other winemaker, Eric.

Then I'll go over to Santa Cruz and go to Bonny Doon(another one I've wanted to see for a long time) and from there, down the Pacific Coast highway, stopping off wherever whim takes me.

Then, I'll spend most of the time in the Edna Valley and Arroyo Grande areas. But it's likely that I'll also go over to Sea Smoke in the Santa Rita area--just waiting on final confirmation of an appointment there.

But Matt Garretson has me interested in that great Hospice du Rhone event in the spring--think it's in early May. So Paso Robles in the spring anybody?
