I recently aquired a 1990 Venue Chequot Ponsardin La Grande Dame Champagne Brut.It was a gift from a friends cellar. I know little about wine and even less about Champagne....does it have any value, do they age like wine and every other stupid question I might ask ?

Any help would be appreciated,
Barry

Worth about $100, drinkable now, not my favorite house in the past several vintages.

Wine-searcher.com shows it being offered for $105-$230, depending on location. The '90 Grande Dame is superb, but will probably be seen as the last of the fine vintage Clicquot Champagnes in my very biased opinion.

Thank you for your information. I am not a big Champagne fan so I don't know what I am going to do with it. As time passes, will it become undrinkable ?

Thanks again !

Barry

The answer to that question depends on your storage conditions. You say that you acquired it as a gift from a friend's cellar; assuming you can match your friend's cellar conditions (and they were optimum), you should be able to keep it for another 10 years if you wish. But if your storage is not optimum, and you must keep it in a pantry or closet, I recommend chilling it and serving at your next family celebration - anniversary, wife's birthday, birth of a baby, etc. The sooner the better.
