Oak infusion spirals?

Does anyone know anything about Oak infusion spirals? I am interested in trying these as an alternative to purchasing an oak barrel. Just curious if anyone has any experience with them. Or has anyone tasted home-made wine where someone used these. Here is the website that sells them to give you an idea.

That is just one of several options to infuse oak without barrels. Please just use in lightly on reds, and not at all with whites.
