Seems like as good a place as any to post this.

Have been looking for years for a way to recycle used corks. Last night, while preparing to grill some burgers for Labor Day, decided to toss a double handful into the oak fire to see what would happen. (These were real corks, not synthetic bungs.) Holy smokes! They caught fire like they were cardboard, swelled up to three times their normal size and smoked like blue blazes. Had to let 'em die down, then plucked 'em out with a long pair of tongs and tossed 'em into a bucket. A bit more oak restored the integrity of the fire for cooking.

Won't be trying that again.

Sounds more like fodder for the firebox.
