$20 plastic screwpull

I sprung for the $20 plastic screwpull about a year ago. I liked the way it worked. But a couple of weeks ago the square part that keys into the handle popped off. I fixed it with cyanoacrylate. A week after that the part where the square key fits into the end of the handle split. I fixed it with cyanoacrylate. Last night I tried to open a bottle and the thing finally shattered. I'm back to using the old waiter's style with the bottle opener on one end.

The only two I ever use are a waiters pal and an old, old plastic screwpull. The latter has only a plastic housing and a teflon coated screw. Would guess that the screwpull has pulled over 3000 corks of every description. Some of the plastic corks have been a struggle.

you guys will probably laugh, but I use a Tupperware corkscrew- works all the time without splitting corks. : )

You should see WW open a bottle with his saber....... myself, I use a pocket model screwpull almost exclusively.

I've gone to the fancy-schmancy big-buck Srewpull Pro, a Christmas gift from the two sisters-in-law. Man, is that thing nice! Its home is on top of the little wine cooler in the utility room. But it's the pocket model Screwpull that gets called on to travel.

Well I don't know what's going on but my screwpull just "sploded" tonight. A small cylinder piece inside one of the "ears" fell out...I've replaced it every which way but this gol-D*&#$! thang won't extract the cork no mo!!!!! They make plastic guns that work forever but can't figure out a $30 cork puller! Disregard my entusiastic 10/01 post.

Drew, take that sucker back. Most wine shops will replace a Screw-Pull no questions! WW

I have a screwpull, but it has been shoved out of the way and is just gathering dust. Haven't used it in months.

I've been using a simple waiter's pal made by Pulltaps that works just fine, even with those difficult to remove plastic corks.

I can pull a cork just as quickly with my waiter's pal as I can with the screwpull. Sometimes, as with plastic corks, the waiter's pal is even faster than the screwpull.

Are you kidding? I can't find my wife in this moving mess, much less a receipt for a screwpull that I purchased from a discount store.

I look at it this way, I lose an occasional bottle due to corkiness; I lose an occasional screwpull due to breakage. That is why I have several red, black, green and blue ones.
