tested a gadget called the Perfect Sommelier, mfg by LK MFG Corp. Tried it on a bottle of Rosemount Cab Sauv 1999. Results were tested by me,a wine drinker and my wife,a non- wine drinker. The gadget worked as advertised.

They are a blatant fraud -- too bad they can't be shut down like false drug advertizing. Oh course there are a hundred scams on weight loss, cleaners, get rich quick schemes, etc. Buyer beware.

I hate to beat a dead horse even more .... but. I went to the web site and I just don't understand what the deal is. It looks like a wine bottle coaster with magnets. It says it "ages and rounds any wine in 30 minutes". Other than vigorously aerating, how can you artificially age a wine in 30 minutes? It also says it "improves aroma and gives wine a fuller body, less acid, more mellow". Excuuuse me? How can a non-intrusive, static device possibly improve aroma? How can it possibly make a wine less acid short of neutralizing the acid with a base solution or by diluting it with something like water? As far as I know, there is nothing ferrous in wine, so how would a weak magnetic field be able to alter the characteristics of wine? What would it purport to do to a bottle of single malt Scotch, or a bottle of port? There is absolutely nothing on their web site that explains the principle behind the wild claims. Call me a skeptic, but I think it's just a crock. Their tag line is "Enjoy your favorite wine even more". I like my 1997 Phelps Insignia just fine the way it is, thank you.

That is the same sentiment that causes us to run into cinnamon/pepper/chocolate/moca cappuccino/latte/ bagels. Americans are never satisfied with the simple and good--which to me is often great--we must improve on it!

I received a bunch of Spam from that Aussie Idiot Ozesurfer last Sun. I report him everytime. I think that's where this brett came from.
