A blend of Cab, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, which made me decide to put it here instead of the Cab thread. This is a wine made by a friend/aquaintance who sourced grapes from several places in Cal and did the blend himself. It's being sold in places like Whole Foods and World Market in the Atlanta area, though I think it will get wider distribution soon.

Firehouse red color. Nose of crushed red raspberry, with flavors that can only be described as cherry pie. An easy, fun drink that is a good aperitif and would be a great choice for people who are more novice or who don't often drink red wines. Would also match pretty well with simple fare, like burgers, sandwiches, etc. Very soft finish, with light tannins that only come on at the end to ensure the finish isn't flabby. I'll buy it again and keep a few bottles around. 13% alc. Paid $10 locally. If anyone sees it, give it a shot and let me know what you think so I can pass the feedback along.

FWIW, and it doesn't mean anything for the wine, though some may be interested in this little tidbit, it's made by the brother of Ty Pennington, the "hunky carpenter" from Trading Spaces who's currently on ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
