2003 Francis Coppola Rosso

A blend of 49% old vine Zinfandel, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Syrah. Dark and opaque in the glass, a Rhonie nose of bruised red fruit and white pepper, no overt oakiness; more ripe red fruit on the palate, fades to a light nip of oak on the finish. 13.5% alc/vol and about $9 at a discounter. Nice quaffer with football snacks of smoked venison sausage and Romano cheese; I'll buy more. D likes it - "Are we having this with supper?" Yup.

I listed it as a possible low-cost communion wine for my church but haven't tried it yet.
