Friday was Marietta O.V. Lot #26 for lamb burgers w/ blue cheese (a nod toward IK). Love that beautiful, dark garnet color w/ magenta edges. Red fruit, bl. pepper, hint of smoke on the nose. Upfront, middle & end fruit w/ b. & wh. pepper & mace? & smoke notes. Stuck the remainder in the fridge.

Saturday night was omelet night at the homestead, so figured what-th-heck & tried it chilled with the main dish: free range e's, Italian sausage, sun-dried tomatoes & olives. I liked it, & tha's all that matters to me!

As IK has noted, this wine stands up very well with "oddball" dishes. Next stop, blueberry pancakes ala Hotwine...or maybe not.

I came across this wine a year or two ago, and was very impressed with how good it was for under 10 bucks! I have not seen it again lately, but I'll be on the watch.

Can go with the non-oddball too. Last night we had a bottle with simply grillpanned loin lamb chops and salad. Wonderful.

Popped our first Lot Twenty Eight last night with a Beef Stroganoff. It seems to be "less sweet" than last year, and as good as ever. Still one of the great wine values in the world. Matched wonderfully with the strogy.
