1966 Bollinger RD value??

Hello everyone.
My name is Vince and I am a newbie in the world of wine. I just recently helped a friend and his girlfriend move into a new place and was given a bottle of 1966 Bollinger RD in a wooden box. His girlfriend was given a large collection of bottles of wine, liquors, etc. She gave me the Bollinger for helping out. It was in a plastic sealed tupperware box with a bunch of other bottles. I guess it has been stored like that for a few years but I dont know how it was store previously.

I am curious to know the value of it, if there is even any. I am not sure if it is good to drink anymore either due to the age.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

From exceptional vintages, Bollinger can last for 30 years if stored properly. This one does not sound like it was properly stored. Even if it was, 40 years is too long for anything I'd want to drink. It is only a curiosity IMO. Get some friends together, pop the cork and taste some history -- have a back-up bottle.

We sell a lot of Bollinger in our shop and I've seen and tasted a number of vintages. In my opinion, your wine is dead and of no value to anyone. All that said, I defer to Bucko's judgement. After all, he's been a wine judge for years, writes a wine column for a major newspaper and is a contributing columnist to another wine board. He knows what he's talking about.

I agree about it being a curiosity. Make the back-up bottle another vintage Bollinger. If you can, get a couple of different vintage Bollingers and try them all. That would be very interesting. And you never know, that bottle may still be alive in some small way. Very small.
