...is a hybrid variety from Germany. Had one last night that was produced in Missouri (Stone Hill Vineyards, among the oldest wineries in the U S--was formed around the Gold Rush by German immigrants). Anyway, the Steinberg (2000) is 3% residual sugar and, sadly, little else. A nice floral nose gives way to a sweet wine with no discernible fruit and no particular vibrancy. It seemed to me like a bad copy of Riesling. I don't know its price because it was sent to me--free.
