What wine will go with Shrimp Alfredo?

I am having dinner with a date for Valentines Day and she is making Shrimp Linguine Alfredo with Strawberry Cheesecake for Dessert. I was thinking maybe a Pinot Grigiot or a Gewurz, but what about a Red??

It would require a huge unwooded white, such as a Hermitage Blanc. A light red would be better and less expensive. Suggest a Dolcetto d'Alba.

Thanks, Innkeeper. Forgive my ignorance, but is a Dolcetto d'Alba type of wine or is it a wine maker? If it is a type of Wine, who is a good Vintner (terminology? Sorry again).

It is a type of wine. Go to a good local vender and ask for it.

What about year and brand?

Only once Foodie! Fleetside, the year is not too important. Should be at least a '98 and probably no earlier than '95. All imported wine comes through an importer. Many of these are local. Therefore a brand we may have here may not be available there and vice versa. The larger more well know producers/brands also tend to be overpriced. Will give you one brand that I know is available in California; Giuseppe Mascarello. Still think it's best to consult a reputable retailer.
