Seems to me like there should be a spot dedicated to Shiraz/Syrah alone???

There is some overlap, and it raises questions as to where to properly put posts. For example, should Oregon Pinot Noir go in Northwest Wines or Pinot Noir? I suppose it's not a big problem (I resolved the above dilemma for myself by putting all my Pinot notes in the Pinot thread, but putting all other Pac NW wine notes in the NW thread).

In fact, it's time to update the category listing.

So much has happened in the wine world since Jerry put this board's categories together.

As one who has called for more categories in the past, e.g. South America; I'm a little concerned about too much revision. If we elimiated categories what happens to the threads on them? If we add more, things could get unwieldy.

Syrah fits nicely in the Rhone category, and Shiraz fits nicely either there or in Australia et al.

I'm certainly good for whatever. Perhaps a little blurb to the right or left of the forum would assist in proper assigmnent of categories. Something tiny like Dananne's note.
